Types of Marketing, What works?

When you think of advertisements or online promotions, you are thinking about marketing communication. Marketing gives the world an understanding of a specific brand or brands. It means to communicate most importantly but also to convince and compete. Every single form of marketing has the same end goal, only differing in the way of set up and delivery.

But how much is it going to cost?

There isn’t a form of marketing communication that is free. Even Free advertising cost something, think about a small local business you love frequenting nearby. For example, I have been following a very talented Balloon design local company on Instagram for a few years now, and lately, I have wondered why they haven’t gone worldwide by now. While their products may be good enough to sell themselves without proper marketing, the consumer may never know they exist. Its true potential will never be reached, but again this cost money to execute, and small businesses typically cannot afford it.

However, there are professional firms that offer their services to help you in with proper marketing. These services allow companies to execute a quality marketing plan at a fair cost properly. Regardless of how you decide to accomplish your marketing strategy, keep in mind that overly sparing when shopping around for the right marketing strategy will only end up unfavorably. Professional and quality work may cost now, but it’s worth it in the long run. It is an investment at the end of the day. Marketing is an extension of you and your business; you wouldn’t want a decision to save to impact future growth negatively. Would you? It will kind of defeat the purpose of marketing if you do and more than likely end up costing you a lot more later.

Types of Marketing Communication

There are several different types of communication. The goal is to help you learn and understand marketing communication and everything that comes with it.

Advertising can be defined as something that brings attention to something else. Simply put, utilizing ads and campaigns. Its purpose is to draw the consumer to something, whether it is a product or service. They are repetitive and have proven to work for a very long time. Considered the old school way to market but still very much relevant and profitable. However, with newer technology, advertisements have grown more robust and able to get you much more attention. The internet, of course, has a lot to do with that. Costly but well worth the investment when you look back at it.

This form of marketing is just that, DIRECT. Typically, companies that sell directly to their consumers benefit from this method of marketing. They get a little more personal with the customer since their relationship is a bit more private or frequent. It depends on a lot of other promotional efforts to keep the consumer happy and coming back. Rather costly due to the research, you will need to do to obtain the necessary information to build a strong bond with your customer.

Ideal for small businesses and common practice in life itself. Just think, a business owner continually talks his company up to whoever is willing to listen. That’s personal selling at its best, of course, it’s a little more complicated than that. It allows you the ability to shape your message for the audience at hand. You just need loyal and dedicated employees and yourself, and you got yourself a walking promotional tool that can be adapted to any situation.

This form of marketing consists of your actions or ideas getting headlines due to community involvement of some sort. At the same time, it cost nothing to get featured in a news headline, which in turn will give you a great source of marketing. Getting there may cost you. To obtain this form of marketing, you must be fully dedicated to putting in the work it takes to get noticed at that level. Plus, you typically must make sure to walk a very straight line because what you expect to be good marketing can quickly become bad publicity.

So, Which Marketing strategies work?

Let’s narrow down the options and focus on probably the most effective strategy for a small business like the balloon design company I use for my children’s celebrations: Digital Marketing.

If your business has reached a plateau level and in need of implementing a new strategy to reach wider audiences gaining exposure at a reasonable cost, digital marketing can be a great option. This type of marketing strategy is very cost-effective; the implementation of it brings a lot more benefits than just cost.

  • Social Media Marketing,

The implementation of this type brings more than just cost-effective benefits; it is one of the most influential and popular types of marketing strategies. It is competitive, easy to use, promotes brand loyalty, and results are more comfortable to track and measure.

  • SEO, Search Engine Optimization.

It refers to how you can get free quality and quantitative traffic to your website.

  • PPC, pay-per-click.

Advertisers pay each time a user clicks on their online ads.

  • Email Marketing

It involves a lot of competition; the effectiveness of the email is measurable.  This information can indicate if you are reaching the right audience.

  • Content Marketing. It is a long-term strategy and differs from other types of marketing. It demands dedication, creative and engaging skill writing, and a lot more time to measure results.

It is up to you to decide which type of marketing fits your business needs best.
